Two Upper Elementary STEM projects from TJSS, “Aura-Botánica” and “Smart Ripeness,” earned 3rd place nationally at prestigious science fairs in ValparaÃso and Concepción.
“Aura-Botánica,” created by 6th graders Maximiliano Silva and Francisca Amaza, won 3rd Place in the Elementary Division at the 2026 Innovation, Science, and Technology School Contest hosted by the Natural History Museum of ValparaÃso.
Meanwhile, 4th graders Máximo Yavar, Raúl Escobar, and Julián Lagos secured 3rd Place—also in the Elementary Division—at the Universidad del BÃo-BÃo National Science and Technology Fair with their project “Smart Ripeness.”
Both teams, guided by Mister Atilio Morales, stood out for their innovative technological solutions and impressive public speaking skills.
“Aura-Botánica” features a self-sustaining greenhouse designed to monitor and care for vegetables, enabling families to cultivate fresh produce at home. “Smart Ripeness” is an AI-powered mobile app built with MIT App Inventor that analyzes photos of fruit to instantly determine their ripeness level.
We celebrate our young innovators and encourage them to keep using their knowledge to make a positive impact on society. Congratulations to all!
