Two TJSS Projects Take Center Stage at Chile’s Largest Robotics Convention

On September 25th, two projects from The Thomas Jefferson STEM School participated in Duoc UC’s Arena IV 2026—the largest robotics gathering in Chile.

Our 6th graders Rafaela Mardones, Rafael White, Rodrigo Araya, Cristóbal García, Fernanda Yáñez, and Rafael Mellado presented “3R-W.A.M” and “Smart Bag.” Both projects were developed by the Upper Elementary Robotics Elective and earned their spot at the prestigious competition after passing a rigorous selection process.

  • 3R-W.A.M is an obstacle-avoiding robot equipped with custom onboard sensors.
  • Smart Bag is an intelligent backpack that scans its contents to check which notebooks are inside and alert the student to any missing items for the school day.

Throughout the event, our team presented their designs to visitors of all ages and backgrounds, demonstrating how their technology works and its real-world applications.

Huge congratulations to our students and teacher Atilio Morales for qualifying and taking part in this remarkable showcase, which drew high-profile guests including the Minister of Education, regional authorities, and local representatives!
