Four native English speakers join the TJSS staff

This year, The Thomas Jefferson STEM School added four native English speakers to its staff: four as Oral English Teachers and one as English Program Supervisor.

They are Sara Lewis (English Program Supervisor), Hanlie Prisloo (Upper Elementary), Ivy Befeler (High School), and Kristin Edwards (Early Childhood & Lower Elementary), pictured from left to right.

Their addition means our English Department will now have five native speakers, including Mr. Benjamin Ngatipehi, who teaches in High School.

The team aims to strengthen TJSS’s English program and its integration with other subjects. One of the changes brought about by Ms. Kristin Edwards’ arrival in Early Childhood is the creation of a dedicated English immersion room, where Pre-K through Kindergarten students will develop reading, writing, and public speaking skills.

For her part, Miss Sara Lewis will be responsible for overseeing and supporting English language teaching and learning from Baby School through 12th grade, enhancing the bilingual education of our students at all levels.
